Plumeria cv ‘Ruffles’

P.’Ruffles’ is characterized by an unusual anomaly, probably a virus, that affects the opening of some florets. Severely affected florets resemble a small sheet of paper that’s been waded up. Note in the image that some florets are affected while others appear completely normal. The measurements here, except flower width, were from a normal floret.

Petal Shading

  • Top: A prominent Yellow 13B center (base of petal) fades to near white about two thirds of the way to the tip. Grainy and faint Red-Purple 60D begins near the upper left and intensifies, overlaying both yellow and white, to nearly a stripe on the right.
  • Bottom: A Red-Purple 60D stripe on the left is followed by a second pale stripe, then grainy and veiny fades to near white on the right. A splash of Yellow 11A is found in the lower right.
